The Only Game in Town: Fipronil Spray
When it comes to tick prevention in cats, our go-to product is fipronil spray. It's effective but requires a bit of know-how to apply correctly. The key is to apply it every three weeks for continuous protection.
Preparing for Application
Before you start, pick a well-ventilated area to work in. Also, don't forget to wear gloves to protect your hands from the fipronil.
Calculating the Dose
Here's a simple formula: Multiply your cat's weight by eight, then divide that number by five. This will give you the number of sprays needed per area.
Application Technique
- Apply the spray against the direction of your cat's coat for better coverage.
- Make sure to cover all areas - spray down one side, then the other, along the back, the tail, around the head and neck, and the belly.
- After spraying, gently rub the coat to spread the fipronil evenly.
- Let it dry naturally.
Safety First
If you're ever in doubt or have concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your family vet for advice.
