Jayda Tisma, an aspiring and enthusiastic Animal Attendant at Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at UNSW with ambitions to transfer into the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine course at USYD. Over the past three years at CAVH, Jayda has been applying her growing knowledge to real-life veterinary situations, making her an integral part of the team.
Jayda's particular interest lies in the study of infectious and non-infectious diseases, especially their microbiological and biochemical aspects. Her fascination with understanding animal illnesses at a microscopic level showcases her analytical mind and passion for veterinary science.
What Jayda finds most rewarding about her role is the continuous learning process and the opportunity to apply her academic knowledge in practical settings to help animals. Her enthusiasm for understanding the complexities of veterinary medicine is a driving force in her day-to-day work.
At home, Jayda's life is filled with a diverse array of pets, including five chickens, nine ducks with recent additions Butterfly, Baked Bean, Petrie, and Soup, and Indie the Border Collie. Her memorable experience of incubating and hatching chicks highlights her nurturing nature and commitment to animal care.
Outside of her veterinary pursuits, Jayda is an avid lover of the outdoors and physical activities. She enjoys surfing, bouldering, and snowboarding, embracing the thrill and challenge they offer. Her quieter moments are spent reading and gardening, balancing her active lifestyle with more serene hobbies.
Jayda's initial connection with CAVH began as a volunteer, where she quickly fell in love with the team and their supportive nature. This experience cemented her desire to continue learning and growing within the veterinary field under the guidance of the CAVH team.
A lifelong resident of Dapto, Jayda has been part of the community since her early days, further strengthening her bond with the area and its residents.
An interesting and artistic side to Jayda? Her love for classical music and aspirations to perform as a violinist with an orchestra, a dream that reflects her creative and disciplined spirit.
