Kate Conaty, a dedicated veterinarian at Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital (CAVH), brings her expertise and compassion to the team. She completed her studies at Sydney University, earning a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Since the start of 2020, Kate has been working as a small animal veterinarian, treating a variety of pets including dogs, cats, pocket pets, and occasionally birds.
Kate's special interests in veterinary medicine lie in cardiology, a field she finds incredibly intriguing. Her passion extends to internal medicine, dermatology, gastrointestinal medicine, ophthalmology, and palliative care. Her comprehensive approach to veterinary care enables her to manage and treat a wide range of health issues, ensuring the best quality of life for her patients.
The aspect of veterinary care that Kate finds most rewarding is interacting with people and their pets. She enjoys working up cases and is committed to providing excellent care to her patients.
Kate's personal life is graced by the presence of her two cats, Squash and Flo. Squash, who joined her family after being hit by a car, is now a lively and affectionate companion. Flo, adopted from a shelter, is a regal and affectionate cat with a penchant for belly pats and who had a miraculous escape after falling from a fourth-floor window.
Outside of her veterinary duties, Kate indulges in various hobbies including reading, beach outings, playing video games, watching movies and TV shows, dancing, and enjoying good food. Her diverse interests reflect her vibrant and outgoing personality.
Kate was drawn to CAVH by the dynamic and friendly team, as well as the opportunity to work in a busy clinic with a variety of interesting cases and a warm client base. Her decision to join the team has been further validated by the wonderful Dapto community, where she has found a sense of belonging and plans to stay for the long term.
A fun and engaging fact about Kate? She has successfully persuaded her husband to join her in salsa dancing lessons, showcasing her enthusiasm for life and new experiences.
