Frequently Asked Questions
Got Questions?
We Have Answers.
Our FAQs cover some of the most common queries we receive from pet owners, so you can feel informed and confident before your visit. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just give us a call, we’re always happy to chat.
What general veterinary services are available at your Dapto clinic?
Companion Animal Vet in Dapto offers a comprehensive range of general veterinary services including consultations for illness and injury, routine health checks, vaccinations, microchipping, pathology (blood and urine testing), diagnostic imaging, medication prescriptions, referrals to specialist services, and preventive health programmes. We treat dogs, cats and rabbits and are passionate about supporting the health of companion animals throughout the Illawarra community.
Are you a bulk-billing vet or do you accept pet insurance in the Illawarra?
We are a private veterinary clinic and do not bulk-bill. However, we accept most major pet insurance claims and are happy to provide detailed itemised invoices to support your policy claim. We encourage all pet owners to consider pet insurance, particularly for young pets, as it can significantly reduce the financial impact of unexpected illness or surgery. We’re happy to discuss insurance options and tips at your next visit.
Can I get a same-day appointment at your Dapto vet clinic?
We always aim to accommodate urgent needs as quickly as possible. For genuine emergencies — such as suspected poisoning, difficulty breathing, suspected tick paralysis, trauma, or a pet that cannot stand — call us immediately on (02) 4261 9838 and we will prioritise your pet’s care. For routine appointments, we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time. Online booking is available at companionanimalvet.com.au/book.
Do you provide microchipping at your Dapto clinic?
Yes. Microchipping is a quick, simple and permanent form of identification for your pet. In NSW, all dogs must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age or before sale/transfer. We can microchip puppies, kittens and rabbits during routine consultations, and we ensure the chip is registered on the NSW Pet Registry. If your pet is already microchipped but you’re unsure of their registration details, we can check and update these for you.
