Petar’s path into veterinary nursing began with a cat who kept visiting his home for food. After caring for him and taking him to a vet, Petar helped reunite the long-missing cat with his family. Being able to help an animal in a vulnerable moment made him want to do more.
His family had been clients of Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital for years, so when Petar began work experience here, he already knew the care and communication he wanted to offer others. That placement led to a job, and he has since completed Certificate II in Animal Care and Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through TAFE.
Petar particularly enjoys nursing hospital patients with medical conditions, learning about their needs and how to support each recovery. His experience has shown him how much close observation and a quick response can matter. He wants families to feel reassured that someone is paying attention to their pet, listening to their concerns and keeping them informed.
Whether he is talking with an owner at admission, explaining things at discharge or giving a progress update, Petar sees communication as part of good nursing care.
