April the abandoned rabbit

Hello, pet enthusiasts! Today, I want to share a heartwarming story about a special rabbit named April, who transformed from being an abandoned animal to a cherished therapy pet at the Disability Trust. Her journey is a testament to the incredible human-animal bond and the profound impact pets can have on our lives.

April's Arrival

Six months ago, April was found abandoned on the side of the road. When she arrived at our clinic, Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, we immediately noticed something extraordinary about her. April loved being picked up and cuddled, and she was already toilet trained – a rarity for rabbits that come into our care. Despite our efforts to find her original home, no one came forward.

Becoming Part of the Team

During her stay with us, April quickly became a favorite among our staff. After a stressful day, our team members found comfort in taking April out of her cage for a cuddle. She had a unique way of melting away worries and bringing smiles to our faces.

A New Opportunity

An opportunity arose for April to join the Disability Trust, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. It was a bittersweet moment for us to see her go, but seeing the joy she brought to her new owners made it all worthwhile.

April's New Role

At the Disability Trust, April has become an invaluable member of the team. She plays a crucial role in the daily lives of the participants, who take responsibility for her care. April's presence has a calming effect, and she generously allows the participants to pet and care for her, enhancing their therapeutic experience.

Ongoing Support

April will permanently reside with the Disability Trust, and we at Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital are committed to taking care of all her healthcare needs. This partnership has reinforced the importance of the human-animal bond and the positive influence animals can have in therapeutic settings.

The Power of the Human-Animal Bond

April's story is a beautiful example of how animals can touch our lives in profound ways. Her journey from an abandoned rabbit to a beloved therapy animal highlights the incredible impact pets can have on human well-being and the importance of giving animals a second chance.

We are proud to be part of April's story and to witness the joy and comfort she brings to the Disability Trust. Her story is a reminder of why we do what we do and the powerful connection between humans and animals.

If you have any questions about pet adoption or animal-assisted therapy, feel free to reach out to us. Let's continue to celebrate and nurture the special bond we share with our animal companions.
